Most suppliers sell you a machine and hand you a helpline. We specify it, install it, calibrate it and repair it — which is why the equipment we fitted twenty years ago is still on our service run.
We supply

Delivered, positioned, commissioned and signed off — with training on site so it is used properly from day one.

Planned servicing and calibration, so the equipment stays accurate and the certificates stay valid.

Pomphrey & Sons Limited has been supplying the garage trade from St Philips for over 50 years — long enough that a good deal of the equipment we service is equipment we sold.
It is still a family firm, and still run the way it always was: tell us what the bay has to do, and we will tell you what fits it. If something cheaper does the job, we will say so.
Everything runs out of one place. The vans, the workshop, the calibration bench and the stores are all at Kingsland Road.

Capacities, heights, stroke, weight. Every product on the site carries the figures you need to know it fits the bay before anyone comes out.

The names on the catalogue
A lift is not a delivery
A two-post lift is bolted into somebody's floor, loaded to several tonnes and stood under by people all day. It gets positioned properly, commissioned properly and demonstrated to the people who will use it.
The same goes for an MOT bay, where the installation is the difference between a bay that passes inspection and one that does not.

Questions we get asked
Do you install what you sell?
Yes, and it is most of the point of using us. Equipment is delivered, positioned, commissioned and signed off, with training on site so the bay is using it properly from the first day.
Do you service equipment you did not supply?
Yes. Our engineers work on the makes we carry and on plenty we do not. If it is in a workshop in the South West we have probably seen one.
Why are there no prices on the site?
Because at this level the machine is only part of it. A lift or an MOT bay is quoted against the bay it is going into, the installation and the training. Send us the details or ring 0117 955 6133 and we will price the job, not just the box.
Can you calibrate our torque wrenches?
Yes — calibration is one of our six service lines and runs out of our own workshop, with certificates issued.
How quickly can you get to a breakdown?
Ring us. We are in Bristol with engineers on the road across the South West, and a bay standing idle is the thing we try hardest to prevent.
Do you fit MOT bays?
Class 4 and Class 7 ATL bays, along with gas and smoke analysers and the ancillary equipment that goes with them.
