Tool Repairs

Air tools stripped, rebuilt and returned instead of thrown away.

What it involves

Air tool repairs in Bristol

An impact wrench that has lost its punch is not usually worn out. Air tools are simple machines — a rotor, a set of vanes, bearings and seals — and the parts that wear are the parts that are meant to. A tool that feels tired generally wants a service kit, not a skip.

Tools come to the bench at Kingsland Road, get stripped, cleaned, rebuilt with new vanes, bearings and seals as needed, and go back working. We do it for the Chicago Pneumatic range we supply, which is what we hold parts for, and for most other makes that turn up.

It is worth saying that a lot of what arrives here is not actually broken. A tool starved of air will feel exactly like a worn one, and the cause is a compressor too small for the job, undersized pipework, or a filter nobody has changed. We would rather find that than sell you a rebuild you did not need — see air compressors.

Good air tools are built to be maintained. A Chicago Pneumatic gun that has been serviced twice will outlast three cheap ones, and it costs less over its life.

Tool Repairs — questions we get asked

Is it worth repairing an air tool?

Almost always. Vanes, bearings and seals are wear items, and a rebuild is a fraction of a new tool.

Do you repair makes you did not supply?

Yes. We hold parts for the Chicago Pneumatic range we carry and repair most other makes.

My gun has gone weak. Is it the tool?

Often not. Air supply is the usual culprit — a compressor too small for the tool, undersized pipework, or a blocked filter. We will check that before we sell you a rebuild.

What tools do you take?

Impact wrenches, ratchets, drills, hammers, saws, sanders, grinders and polishers — see air tools.
