About this range

Vehicle Lifts at Pomphrey

A lift is the largest single thing most workshops buy and the one that decides how the bay works for the next twenty years. The range covers two-post lifts from two to six tonnes, four-post drive-on lifts, baseless two-post lifts with an overhead beam, and mobile column sets for vehicles that will not fit a fixed bay at all.

Two-post lifts give wheels-free access to the whole underside and are the standard for servicing, brakes and suspension. Four-post lifts are drive-on, which makes them the choice for four-wheel alignment, for MOT bays and for anywhere you want to roll a vehicle on rather than pick it up. Baseless lifts put nothing across the floor, so the bay sweeps clean and a long wheelbase drives straight through. Mobile columns go to the vehicle instead of the other way round.

Capacity is the obvious figure and the least likely to catch you out. Ceiling height, the slab underneath, and whether you have a three-phase supply are what usually decide the answer, and all three are worth settling before anybody quotes. We install and commission what we supply, and we service and repair lifts across the South West, including plenty we did not sell.

What we do for this equipment

The same company that supplies it keeps it working. These service lines apply to everything on this page.

Before you ring

Vehicle Lifts — questions we get asked

Two-post or four-post?

Two-post gives wheels-free access to the whole underside, which is what you want for servicing, brakes and suspension. Four-post is drive-on, which is what you want for four-wheel alignment, for an MOT bay and for anywhere a vehicle should roll on rather than be picked up. Plenty of workshops end up with one of each.

What is a baseless lift?

A two-post lift with the connection running overhead instead of across the floor. Nothing crosses the bay, so it sweeps clean and a long wheelbase drives straight through. It needs the ceiling height to take the beam.

What decides which lift my workshop can have?

Ceiling height, the concrete slab underneath and whether you have a three-phase supply, far more often than capacity. All three are worth settling before anybody quotes, and they are the things we come and look at.

Do you service lifts you did not supply?

Yes. We service and repair lifts across Bristol and the South West whoever fitted them — see on-site repairs.
