Propane and paraffin space heaters for the workshop floor.

About this range

Heaters at Pomphrey

Propane and paraffin space heaters for warming a workshop floor, sized from a single bay up to a full building.

Direct-fired propane heaters are the quickest way to put heat into a cold space and the cheapest to buy, and they want ventilation because everything the burner produces goes into the room with the heat. Indirect and paraffin units flue their products outside, which makes them the sensible choice where the doors are shut, where there is paint or bodywork going on, or where people are in the space all day.

Either way it is worth getting the output right rather than buying the biggest one. A heater that is too small runs flat out and never catches up; one that is too large cycles, wastes fuel and moves a lot of dust about. Tell us the size of the building and how much of the day the doors are open, and we will point you at the right one.

Heaters — questions we get asked

Direct or indirect fired?

Direct-fired propane puts everything the burner produces into the room along with the heat, so it heats fastest and needs ventilation. Indirect and paraffin units flue outside, which is what you want with the doors shut, with paint or bodywork going on, or where people are in the space all day.

What output do I need?

Match it to the building volume and how much of the day the doors are open. Too small and it runs flat out without catching up; too large and it cycles, wastes fuel and moves dust around. Tell us the size and we will point you at the right one.

Are they safe to leave running?

Follow the manufacturer's instructions on ventilation and clearances, and never run a direct-fired heater in a sealed space. If you are unsure which type suits your building, ring before you buy.

Do you carry them all year?

Ring for current stock — this is a range that moves with the weather.
