Tyre Equipment at Pomphrey
Tyre changers and wheel balancers for car, van and 4x4 work, supplied, installed and set up on site with the people who will be using them.
Modern wheels are what makes the difference here. Low-profile tyres, run-flats, large-diameter alloys and TPMS sensors are unforgiving of a machine designed twenty years ago, and the cost of a scratched rim or a broken sensor mounts up quickly against the price of the right changer. Balancers have moved the same way, with the wheel geometry entered rather than eyeballed.
Both machines are worth installing properly rather than dropping off. A changer wants bolting down and a balancer is only as good as the floor and the calibration behind it, which is why we set them up in the bay and show the people using them how before we leave. Afterwards they are on the same service and repair run as everything else we supply.

The same company that supplies it keeps it working. These service lines apply to everything on this page.
Tyre Equipment — questions we get asked
Will an older tyre changer handle modern wheels?
Often not without damage. Low-profile tyres, run-flats and large-diameter alloys need a machine designed for them, and the cost of a scratched rim or a broken TPMS sensor adds up quickly against the price of the right changer.
Do you install and set them up?
Yes. A changer wants bolting down and a balancer is only as good as the floor and the calibration behind it, so we set them up in the bay and show the people using them before we leave.
Do I need a balancer as well as a changer?
If you are fitting tyres, yes. Fitting without balancing puts the vibration complaint back on you a week later.
Can you service tyre equipment already in the workshop?
Yes, whoever supplied it — see garage equipment repairs.
